Florencia, mi ciudad esta ubicada al sur de Colombia, es la puerta de oro de la Amazonia Colombiana. Fue fundada el 25 de diciembre de 1902. Día que coincide con la navidad. Actualmente posee aproximadamente 163.000 habitantes.
Nuestra ciudad profesa mayoritariamente la religión católica. De hecho el fundador de la ciudad fue el fraile capuchino Fray Doroteo de Pupiales. La primera iglesia era un rancho de madera y fue la segunda construcción en el pueblo.
Aquí podemos observar la actual imagen de la iglesia, cada año para estas fechas es iluminada con motivo de la navidad y festejo de su cumpleaños.

En estas fiestas navideñas, la tradición religiosa más importante de las familias es rezar la novena en torno al pesebre. El pesebre es una representación del nacimiento del niño Jesús en el establo, ahí no pueden faltar los tres reyes magos. A partir del día 16 de diciembre, todos se reúnen junto al pesebre, para orar y cantar villancicos. Luego es costumbre repartir en los asistentes algún tipo de comida. Solo hasta el día 24 a media noche, el niño Jesús es colocado en el pesebre. Esta noche los niños reciben sus regalos de navidad. Ellos son quienes más disfrutan de esta actividad.

El ambiente navideño en nuestro pueblo también es colorido y lleno de luces, esto se observa en parques, calles, centros comerciales y viviendas.
Aunque no tenemos nieve en ningún momento, el clima tropical amazónico no impide que Santa llegue con los regalos.
The Christmas atmosphere in our town is also colorful and full of lights, this is seen in parks, streets, shopping centers and homes.
Although we do not have snow at any time, the amazonian tropical climate does not obstacle for Santa to arrive with the gifts.
