Clay Art Contest Entry #1 Your Favorite Cartoon Character | Stitch aka Experiment 626

My Love for Stitch and Clay Molding

I am going to be 33 years old in 2 days but I still love cartoons. In fact, I do not watch TV unless it's Nick Jr. LOL That's a weird confession but it is so true. When I read about the clay molding contest of @josejirafa, I got excited. I bought a box of clay the next day and I instantly had an idea what to make in my head. I'm going to make Stitch or Experiement 626, an invincible alien from Lilo and Stitch. My favorite cartoon character.

I am not a pro in clay molding but I remember when I was stressed of my life before, I asked my friends, my barkada to join me in a crash course for clay molding and we did. My friends are all men but they were up for it. We were surprised how therapeutic it was. We were all working in the corporate world, we had very stressful working lives but the moment we were asked to go ahead and mold anything we want to, it just made everything peaceful and calm and it was a wow experience. I will never forget how clay molding made us all feel. We were like kids again. We were so happy seeing our works. I made a Buddha relic, I made it because the clay molding session made me feel a certain peace I can only feel during meditation, so to represent that, I made a Buddha relic.

In the end we still had a lot of extra clay, I remember the boys played with it and made some very carnal figures and that was really funny. Our clay modelling instructor was laughing because that was a pretty normal experience for her when she had male attendees in her class. I'll never forget those days and I will always love clay molding because of it.

I love Stitch because he is invincible and adorably cute. In fact, I bring one small Stitch hanging on my backpack everyday.

Molding My Stitch!

It's been awhile since I touched clay. When I opened the box of the clay I bought for 40 pesos, I was shocked to see 10 tiny rectangles of clay. LOL I was thinking I would make an average size Stitch so it won't be hard to mold but it won't happen since I only have a few clays.

I actually made 2 Stitches. I kind of did not like the first one so I made another one. I wanted to make another one but then I ran out of clay. LOL I had a little clay and I had my daughter and my niece wanting all the clay for themselves too. I worked on my bed, infront of my laptop the whole time because I don't have a working space in my room.

The materials I used are modelling clay and a toothpick (because that was the only thing I can think of that can help me with the tiny figures I was doing). LOL

The first Stitch I made is this one.

But I wasn't satisfied with that so I made another one

I made the head and the body and the ears.

I put them altogether.

Then I went with all the other parts and finishing touches.

This is his solo picture.

Another solo picture because the first one had a dirt in his eye. LOL He kind of looks like Sonic the Hedgehog, doesn't he?LOL

This is his picture with the gang. The red angry bird was made by my daughter.

I had so much fun doing it. Definitely I will be making more of these because I could not agree more with @josejirafa, indeed, it is very much therapeutic molding clays. If you guys have not tried it, I urge you to try it, you might just love it like I do. It's definitely worthwhile. If you need a break away from stress, this is one good option.

I challenge @korinkrafting to do this contest just for fun!

Thanks for reading. Don't foget to have fun, always.
