China Blocks Whatsapp
Starting last week and in the wake of the upcoming Communist Party meeting. This started about a week ago but more and more users are discovering that at some points they couldn't even send pics or messages to anyone outside of China according to the BBC. The only way to do so was to use a VPN to get through the Great China Firewall.
With this happening to WhatsApp (owned by Facebook) what else could happen to other messaging and social media outlets? Would steemit possibly be another avenue that would allow Chinese citizens to post their thoughts and stories or will this too be taken away and blocked? Time will tell.
