Capturing Your Childhood In The Winter Wonderland /

It’s that special time of the year again!

The Christmas lights are lined neatly over London’s famous Regents Street and at night they look simply magical. One of the main highlights around this part of town is the amazing Winter Wonderland. Being an annual event lasting for six weeks, it can draw crowds in excess of 2.5 million people. This is an extra special occasion this year as it's the tenth year that this popular event has been running.

The theme park grounds are located in lush Hyde Park. Leaves and twigs were scattered everywhere, though everything looked so peaceful and calm. Entering Winter Wonderland itself is free of charge as the various rides and restaurants are paid for within. Perfect if all you wish to do is gaze upon all the beautiful attractions inside.

There were so many children running about here, there and everywhere. A literal kid’s haven and for one simple reason. The sheer amount of toys and candy on offer! The queues were long and snaking as they were tugging on their parent’s jacket sleeves to drag them to their favourite stand. That was really hilarious to see.

Some stands involved playing traditional fairground games like throwing a ball to knock down all the tin cans, fairground horse raising as well as Bumper Cars. So much fun! Winning prizes could mean carrying around a cuddly bear all day long, lol! I must admit even I was eyeing up one of those big bears on display. It really brought out my inner child.

Something that must be tried when at the park are the delicious Churros sweet snacks on offer. In all honesty, one of the tastiest treats I’ve ever had. They are freshly fried in front you dowsed in sunflower oil and served with a selection of different toppings such a cinnamon sugar or chocolate syrup. Crispy on the outside, but soft and moist on the inside. Pure bliss!

Some of the theme park rides were positively thrilling. Some geared towards the more adventurous and daring among us while others were of the quieter and more relaxing variety.

A particularly awesome part of the theme park was the Bavarian Village which was basically one huge indoor hall filled with people drinking and eating their favourite food. A stage is the main showpiece at the front where live singers and dancers keep the enjoyable mood flowing late into the evening.

It must be said that the world famous “German Sausage” was served in a doughy hot dog bun drenched in a topping of your choice. Absolutely gorgeous and a must try if you intend on snacking out when there. Included with mine was a nice glass of classic mulled wine and you’ve got all the ingredients you need to warm your heart on a cold winter’s day.

All in all, Winter Wonderland is the perfect day out for all the family and I unreservedly recommend paying a visit there if ever you are in London at Christmas time. There’s something to do for everybody no matter whatever age you are and it will certainly prove a memorable experience than won’t be forgotten in a hurry.
