A few days in Lisbon was all I needed to fall in love with this charming city!
Wander down the streets of Lisbon and you will find many cool little surprises! One of these being discovering Lisbon’s street art. The buildings within the city are intrinsically themed with colour, tiles and graffiti! The are multifaceted, symbolising the country’s history, pop culture as well as some imaginative abstracts.
A cool venue that I cannot recommend highly enough is the LX factory.
LX factory is a re-developed industrial complex of buildings, situated slightly outside of the centre of Lisbon. Just a short tram ride away on the Number 15.
I am very impressed with the way this space was re-purposed from an old factory into this very edgy, cool area. The converted spaces are now home to a variety of shops ranging from art, books, vintage items, local Portuguese souvenirs, cafes and restaurants, etc.
Almost everything you need in one convenient place!
I went there around noon on Sunday and the market was in full swing with stalls selling all types of merchandise.
Of course, the most popular being the locally produced fruits, vegetables and cheese.
A small organic farming stall attracted my attention. The owner was very friendly, offering for me to try their various tomatoes on sale. The slightly green coloured grape-shaped tomatoes were my favourite. They are in oval shape, quite small but extra sweet in flavour.
Actually, the perfect size for snacking on. I bought a small bag full, hehe.
If you get a chance to go up to the roof, there is a nice view of the nearby river, the bridge and the magnificent statue of Christ.
The food was great and reasonably priced. Their seemed a good mix of locals, national and international tourists on-site to enjoy all those tasty meals too. However, we opted for the Burger Factory for lunch.
The atmosphere was lively with a quirky décor. They offer a wide range of burgers with a good selection of tasty toppings and condiments. We went for the Francesinha, which is a typical dish in north of Portugal. The burger came in a very special, delicious sauce. They were made to perfection as were the french–fries.
At the end of the day, LX factory is a very creative and unique place. I loved it there. Totally worth a visit if you have not experienced one of these converted industrial sights which ooze character and offer some good industrial art photo opportunities!
A must see in the great city of Lisbon.
