Last week, I booked an extended weekend trip to visit the gorgeous city of Paris and attend the world renowned MAISON&OBJET trade fair. This popular event ran from Sept 8th – 12th and covers current and upcoming trends in home styling and décor, interior design and accompanied lifestyle improvements.
One main objective for those in this highly competitive industry is creating new connections between different international designers and the retail community. It has become an important European design exchange platform, which is perfect for buyers like myself. The literal translation of MAISON&OBJET is “House & Object” which perfectly summarises this show . It has been described as “among the three most important European events for interior design.”
So it is considered quite a big deal in my line of work!
This year the show attracted an estimated 64,000 professional visitors and featured more than 3,000 exhibiting brands from 64 different countries. It is a great opportunity for visitors to learn comprehensive information on these latest trends and products in the industry.
I have always been obsessed with interior design and am always on the lookout for new and beautiful things that inspire me. I took many pictures during the duration of my visit and would love to share some of my favourite finds with all my steemian friends.
Waking up at 5am as I took the 7am Eurostar train from St. Pancras to Gare du Nord in Paris. Two and a half hour later, I was in Paris.
September weather in Paris can be unpredictable at best. It could be very sunny, then within an hour raining and cold. So, wrapping up nice and warm, I quickly dropped off my luggage in the hotel and was on the way to the northern suburbs of Paris Villepont Exhibition Centre (Paris-Nord Villepinte) where the show was taking place.
Upon arrival, MAISON&OBJET was absolutely enormous. There were eight halls in total and they are as follows:
Hall 1 (Electric), Hall 2 (Cosy); Hall 3 & 4 (Elegant); Hall 5A (Complements); Hall 5B (Actuel); Hall 6 (Home & Fashion Accessories)and Hall 7 (Now! Design À Vivre).
Each hall was approximately the size of several full-size football fields! Imagine the time needed to check out all eight of them, lol.
The sprawling exhibition hall covered all the main bases, from stylish ornamental home furnishings to high-end interior products. The fair also highlighted new techniques and materials used in production as well as some cool colour trends.
There were so many beautiful creations to see.
MAISON&OBJET provided for a great inspiration to me and my career. I managed to find some amazing products, finishes and ideas. A visit to this incredible fair comes highly recommended if this is your thing and is well worth a visit.
Thank you for joining me on this splendid day out. "Au revoir" for now! :)
Hall 7 Now! Design A Vivre.
MAISON&OBJET
