The soothing walk around the grounds inside Windsor Castle was fascinating with views stretching out over the Thames, into Eton and beyond.
Queen Mary’s Dollhouse
The viewing public can only visit the State Apartments, Mary’s Dollhouse and St George’s Chapel, which are all pretty spectacular to explore within. Queen Mary’s Dollhouse and The State Apartments are actually right next to each other. Our visit to the Dollhouse was quite interesting, with a particular note to the skilfully represented miniature small scale model of its entire architecture on display. That takes some serious talent!
The State Apartments
Our next stop was at the State Apartments and feature some of the most elegant rooms you could ever hope to see in Britain. The State Apartments are furnished with some magnificent art pieces to collectively form the Royal collection. With paintings by Rembrandt, Rubens and Canaletto, to name a few, the decor is of a standard many could only dream of.
The sheer spacious of the venue is breath-taking! There is so much to see, from the beautifully designed furniture and silver crockery to the stunning collection of rifles and pistols hung up against the wall. Add to that all those amazing portraits of famous English Kings and nobility and you've got one of the most unique and inspired places you could ever hope to visit. These rooms definitely contained the "WOW" factor so be sure not to be missed on checking them out if ever you decide to go touring the vast castle grounds.
Each room has a helpful tour guide assists who are always on-hand to impart lots of interesting and insightful information about Windsor Castle, including details pertaining to the great fire that happened here in 1992 and the restoration process afterwards. I was very impressed what a great job they did to resurrect the innate glory of this place once more. Or there is always the option of using their audio electronic device should you wish to get an even more in-depth overview of the State Apartments.
No photos were allowed inside the castle itself, however there are a few rooms that are so exceedingly spectacular, I had no choice but to snap a few quick photos and hopefully not get in trouble for it, lol.
The grand layouts of these rooms look like something out of a living fairy tale. Something of the rooms were so packed with visitors that we all had to be ushered to the next location in small groups. I urge you to come and view the experience of Windsor Castle for yourself one day. It's something I guarantee you won't forget in a hurry.
What a perfect opportunity to observe firsthand a real slice of genuine British history!
