Last summer, I travelled to Seoul with my friend for more than a week. We went to lots of so-called “must go” hot spots. To be honest, I never thought that I will come to Seoul again this summer. Apart from some hot spots, i.e. Hongdae and Myeongdong, I planned a half day trip for myself as I wanted to go some historic spots that my friends did not want to go.

Starting the journey from taking subway

The first spot - Gwanghwamun Plaza

You will see a features statue of Sejong Yi Do when you go out of the subway. He is the king of Joseon-dynasty Korean who created Hangul, the native phonetic alphabet system for the Korean language. The plaza features a water fountain recording the major Korea events on two sides.

It is really really hot in the afternoon.

You can see Gwanghwamun, the main and largest gate of Gyeongbokgung Palace. As I wore Hanbok there last summer, I did not go again this time.

***It is so hot in summer especially when you wearing Hanbok.

The second spot - National Museum of Korea

You can see the National Museum of Korea. I did not go inside the museum, but there was a temporary photo exhibition in the underground. John Rich, the war correspondent who stayed in Korea and took photos of the Korean War in 1950. This exhibition showed his photos taken at that time. At the end of the exhibition, there are some postcards for free. I think these postcards are more special than other things as gift to friends.

Postcards and photo in exhibition

Anyone wants these postcards?

When you turned left, you can see lots of policemen stood on guard outside the Embassy of the United States, Seoul.

Keep going, passing through the streets....

The third spot - Jogyesa temple

After walking for more than a hour, I finally arrived Jogyesa temple. You can see hanja/ traditional chinese words in some old buildings in Korea as the majority of Korean literature and documents were written in it in the past.

A cute Buddha sculpture

Buddhists listened carefully when Buddhist monks were chanting sutras.

There were lots of colourful lanterns.

Keep going...

Bosingak

I had just realised it was a bell pavilion when I searched information for writing this blog.

Skyscraper

The fourth spot- Tourist Information Center TIC

There is a Tourist Information Center(TIC) near Jonggak station. I think Korea government do support their tourism development. Korea has lots of tourist information centers in hot spots e.g. Myeongdong which offer some rest space for tourists. They also offer tourist information in Chinese, English and Japanese.

Soohorang, a white tiger in left hand side, and Bandabi, an Asiatic black bear in the right hand side, are the official mascots of the 2018 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, which will be held in Pyeongchang.

Bandabi

You can take photos with YG K-pop stars in K-Style Hub, TIC . There are two rooms for taking photos with them for free!

There is a Cultural Product Promotion Center in 5th floor where you can try traditional korean dress, Hanbok here.

I had a long walk on my own in that day. I was really tired but I enjoyed a lot! I planned two attractions to go but end up I went to lots of spots. Just have a look, this is my route. It is not recommended that following my plan as you have to walk for a long time.

This is my graduation photos taken in Korea.
