Fan Lobster Steam | 清蒸九尺扇虾

Fan lobster, also named balmain bug or butterfly lobster, is found mostly in coast of Australia and south Asia. It is only wild-caught, and a bycatch of other fish and prawn so quite rare on the market. The usual way to cook is to boil as a whole or steam the halves, same way as to cook lobsters.


九齿扇虾,一般也叫琵琶虾,之前去海边旅游的时候看到过,长得跟龙虾有点区别,倒是更接近所谓的皮皮虾(广东人称濑尿虾)。在逛淘宝的时候看见有保证活着发货的琵琶虾,店家为了吸引顾客还提供了发货的视频,现在淘宝卖家的服务真是越来越周到了。

收到以后终于明白为什么叫扇虾了,又扁又薄,虽然比巴掌还大,但实际很轻。4个加一块才一斤。样子有点怪怪的,还有点凶凶的,头上的齿又尖又多,看来在海里应该挺凶悍。

做法很简单:用刀切开两半然后加点葱姜蒸熟。虽然肉只有薄薄一层,但饱满有弹性,口感意外地还不错。不过看多了那凶凶的两只眼睛瞪着我,吃起来好像有点障碍,以后大概不会再买了。
