Miss. Delicious #22: A typical Chinese Home Cooked Meal

There is nothing better than home cooked food!

On my way from Xi'an to Shenzhen, I had the opportunity and pleasure to stop by my grandparents place in Beijing for one night and enjoy their home cooked food.

I spent much of my childhood raised by my grandparents in Beijing and therefore had a fair share of their home cooked food growing up.

To this day, my relative standards of Chinese food are determined by these early influences of Chinese home cooking.

I've made many posts about food from all over China and even Europe but none about the food I enjoyed eating whilst growing up. Even though the world foods are delicious, in my mind there is still nothing quite like a home cooked meal.

Lets take a look at what delicious food awaits us at home!

This is my favourite dish as a child. Stewed Roasted Chicken Wings with Spicy Chili Peppers and Soy Sauce.

Stir-Fried Chinese Cabbage.
This Chinese Cabbage tastes different from the kind you eat abroad. It's naturally very sweet and doesn't require too much additional garnishing.

This is breaded fried Basa fish. The outside is slightly crispy and yet the meat on the inside is white and very tender. The dish is again served with a soy sauce mix along with some green onions, red and green spicy chili peppers.

This is a staple dish in Chinese cuisine. Called Tomato fried Egg.
Most Chinese people will instantly recognise this dish. It's usually one of the first dishes that an aspiring chef learns to cook!
I like it to taste slightly sweet, so using the right kind of Tomato's is very important.

Braised Pork Belly in Stew.
This dish is also another staple Chinese dish and is perfect when eaten with Rice. During the winter, it's important to consume more fat's as it's needed to keep the body warm. This is served with non-spicy chili pepper strips and black bean making it both nutritious as well as tasty!

Sea Urchin with Chicken Thigh Soup
This is a very nutritional soup, Sea Urchin's have wonderful anti-oxidant qualities and are often used as an ingredient in Chinese Medicine. Combined with Chicken, this is a high protein dish that is perfectly supplemented with a very light soup base which consists of the natural juices from the Sea Urchin and Chicken. It's often served as the first dish, prior to Rice acting as an appetizer.


今天我想带大家看看我家人的私家菜,我相信每个出门在外的游子总会想念那一口外公外婆亲手做的菜,还记得周杰伦有一首歌叫作爷爷泡的茶。红烧鸡翅膀是我小时候最爱的菜,这个鸡翅在辣椒的腌制下,有微辣的口感,下饭吃也是不错的选择呢。清炒白菜,油亮光泽的白菜吃起来脆脆的,又非常健康呢。辣椒龙利鱼,龙利鱼是基本没有刺的鱼,吃起来口感嫩嫩的,外婆加入了青辣椒和红辣椒,味道就被调的更让人停不下筷子。西红柿炒家蛋,我想它是每一个家庭做饭的常客了,每个人都喜欢,尤其是小孩子酸甜的口感是他们的最爱啦。豆豉辣椒蒸肉,这道菜是我们家的招牌菜啦,吃一块肉就会停不下来了,我每次回到家都可以吃2碗米饭,这大概是我在国内发胖的原因哈哈。最后一道是海参鸡腿汤,这两种食物配在一起的汤不常见,应该是外婆的独创吧,汤非常清淡不油腻,而海参让这道汤更加营养。有机会,希望可以请Steemit的朋友一起来我家尝尝特色的家常菜。谢谢你们的观看,希望你们喜欢我的私方菜。
