Showtime!
The show will be post-promotion but with a twist.
We still want to give members of the community the chance to show off their own work and present it to us in the show. We think it’s very important for people to learn how to present their work and enjoy it in the process. Structuring the show in a way that gets people coming back week after week, improving their work and achieving better rewards, is the main goal.
Drop in the Ocean
How are we going to create a show that helps our members improve their writing and presenting each week?
Every week, we will be setting a topic for the members who are taking part. Throughout the week, they will research, learn and write about the topic and on the day of the show they will post their content and get ready to present it on the Drop in the Ocean show.
By having a certain topic for the show, we will be able to learn about varying perspectives from all the members involved. This is important to us and we believe that by gaining a better understanding of the topics, from a mixture of people, we will have a well-rounded comprehension of the subject.
Every week we’ll be asking the members for a different topic and our plan is to have topics such as; community, bravery, compassion etc. This is to steer away from having themes based on objects, styles or a certain media. Your posts don’t have to be stuck with just writing. You could create some art, you could use video or whatever different type of media/content that you can come up with. Use your imagination!
What’s in it for me?
Some of you will be interested in the show because of the concept alone but I’m sure you will all like it after you hear about the rewards…
When we start the show, we are going to curate all the members getting involved in the Drop in the Ocean post (this totally depends on the numbers. If we have 20 people getting involved straight away, we will only be curating 10. If we have 10, we will only curate 5). This post will be shared the day after the show and all the members who make it to the post will receive a 0.2 SBD tip on the content they entered from us.
Now for the exciting stuff…
The top 3 authors of the show will not only appear in the post, they will also level up. With this level, you will receive 1 upvote daily from the BuddyUP community account. Your level will stay with you for 2 weeks and you will get the chance to level up further, upping the vote percentage, everytime you place in the top 3 of the show. If you don’t place in the top 3 in those 2 weeks, you will lose a rank. So you will want to be constantly improving your content for the show!
As well as the level up and the daily upvote, the winner of the show will be re-steemed above the Drop in the Ocean curation post. We want to do this to help give the author more exposure, plus we want to be able to look back on our blog and see all the winning posts in the future.
Why are we doing this?
We wanted to host this show so that more members of BuddyUP can get involved on a weekly basis and feel like they are a true part of the community. We are hoping that the show will be a great learning tool for everyone involved; we want to encourage our members to keep on improving their work.
Each week we will be asking the members about their post and how they came up with the idea for it. If they are back the following week, we’ll be asking them again but also how they improved from the last post. We believe in all of our members and we know that everyone has got the potential to reach great heights here on the platform. We just want to give you, the community, the chance to constantly improve and interact with like-minded people.
When does it begin?
We wanted to give you all a long time period to get posts ready for the first show. This is so you all have enough time to understand the show and how it’s going to work. It also gives us enough time to notify all of you in Discord via direct messages. We’ve decided not to heavily promote this because it’s going to be for members of BuddyUP only.
People can listen in to the show if they aren’t a member of BuddyUP but you will only be able to participate if you are a Tetra or above.
We are going to host an introductory show on Friday evening at 21:00 GMT for anybody who wants to swing by and ask any questions about Drop in the Ocean. This is for anyone looking to find out some more information about the show but we will also be chatting and getting to know some people who haven’t been on the voice channels before, so if you want to drop by and get to know us, you’re more than welcome.
What is the first topic?
As we highlighted higher up the post, we want to try and keep our topics in-keeping with what we’re about here at BuddyUP. Your perspective on the topic is up to you and you have free reign to design and create your post however you want. It is your blog at the end of the day, your way of expression is unique to you. We don’t want our topics to put you in a box.
The topic for the first show (which will start on Friday the 13th… spooky!), will be:
CONNECTION
Remember, do not post your work until the 13th, otherwise, you won’t be eligible for the curation post or the rank up. You can draft your post in a variety of different writing applications and programs and you can always write it in Steemit to see how it looks if you want to have it completely ready for the day.
Excited?
I know we are. I’ve spoken to a few people already about this idea and they’re looking forward to getting involved. No matter who turns up, no matter how many posts are made, we will be running the show and learning from each other about what CONNECTION means to you.
Make sure you clear your schedule for Friday and drop by to say hello (even if it’s just for 5 minutes!), we will be there or in the server if you have any questions. We’re looking forward to hearing from you and learning a little bit about your view of the world.
