The Writers' Block Inaugural Poetry Competition

The Writers’ Block is extremely excited to announce that we will now be holding a Weekly Poetry Contest. After noticing that the poetry community here on Steemit is a bit lacking in community-building activities for its poets, this seems like a great way to bring more of us together. Togetherness = awesome.

So, without wasting any time, let’s get right to the details.

Each week, a prompt will be provided, and all poems should be written with this prompt in mind. Prompts can range from general ideas to quotes and visual artwork to structural guidelines, and much much more. Really, the possibilities are endless, and are meant to spark the creative energy that lives inside us, in order to be shared with the world.

And there are PRIZES which we have the incredible generosity of @gmuxx, the official sponsor of the contest, to thank for that. If you feel so inclined, an easy way to show your gratitude to @gmuxx would be to vote for him as a witness! It’s such a simple and kind gesture for someone to show your support for someone who is so committed to the Steemit community. Because of his support for the arts here, members of the Steemit community will have an extra opportunity to shine and be rewarded for their shining.

PRIZE POOL UPDATE!

@anomadsoul has generously decided to support this weekly poetry contest and has offered a total of 15 SBD toward the prize pool every week! Thank you, much appreciated. Therefore the prizes will now be split as follows:

1st place: 15 SBD
2nd place: 10 SBD
3rd place: 7 SBD

As well, each week’s entries will be evaluated by five outstanding judges from The Writers’ Block team who have made this contest possible:

@sunravelme
@damianjayclay
@jrswab
@jessandthesea
@dbooster

Now, to get to the meat of the contest. Here is the prompt and the rules for entering:
