Today I am going to show you how to make a cool flower from cotton buds! My mother showed it to me and the moment I saw them I wanted to make them as well. So I am not the one who created this idea but I still think it's rather amazing.
Need: *A box of cotton buds/wags.
* Styrofoam balls.
*scissors.
*Aqrylic paint in the colors you want to use.
* Bowls for the color water.
* Bamboo sticks in three lengths.
.
As you can see here I used the smallest Styrofoam ball I could find because the flower will be huge! of course you are free to use any size you want but keep in mind, the bigger the ball the more ear buds you will need.
Start by cutting a whole bunch of earbuds in half by making a X while cutting. This will give both sides a sharp point! The sharp point makes it so much easier to press the buds in to the ball and it will stick inside better as well.
As you can see my ear buds are now in half and all have that sharp point!
TIP: Hold the ear bud tight while cutting! Mine flew through the room as if I had a ear bud snow storm inside my living room.
On the ball there is a little line at the spot the two half balls have been glued or pressed together. Start to press the buds in on that line all the way around like on the picture.
Keep sticking buds on but leave some space between them. This already looks amazing! :D
Put some paint in a bowl and add enough water. Mix it with a small brush until all the paint is gone and you have only water left! If you don't have enough water you can always make more while you already coloring the flower.
Dip the buds into the water and let them soak or use a brush to pick up the water and touch the buds one by one if you want a multi color flower! Keep turning the flower until you have colored all the buds!
Put some tissue/toilet paper on the counter and carefully place the flower on the paper. As you can see the flower will lose some of the water and you don't want that stuck for ever on your nice clean counter or table.
I made three different colors and in between waiting for them to dry I changed the toilet paper under them a few times and turned the flowers as well. At this stage I went to bed so mine cold dry over night!
This morning I cut three bamboo sticks and made a sharp point on them. Pick up the flower and stick the bamboo into the ball. Then put them in a nice vase or in a crafted wine bottle like I did!
