We all use images in the blog posts. I personally use CC licensed images by searching them via different search tools since CC license allows me to share the image without asking permission.
So far, I did the attribution just by linking the original source like this:
We're doing it wrong
The original Creative Commons 4.0 License clearly states the attribution rules.
- A copyright notice
- A notice that refers to this Public License
- A notice that refers to the disclaimer of warranties
a URI or hyperlink to the Licensed Material to the extent reasonably practicable.
These are the golden rules when you attribute someone else's work.
It's also known as TASL: Title, Author, Source, License. When you use a CC-licensed image you should state:
- Name/Title of the material
- Author of the material
- Source URL of the material
- Which license used for publishing the material.
Example
This is an example of good attribution.
