Greetings, Crypto Nation!
Welcome to Carrie's Crypto Corner!
Today I cover:
🤔What is a blockchain?🤔
TL; DW (Too long; Didn't Watch)
- A Blockchain is a continuously growing list of records, called blocks, which are linked and secured using cryptography. An open, distributed ledger that can record transactions between two parties efficiently and in a verifiable and permanent way. Wikipedia
- A Distributed Ledger, also called a shared ledger, is a consensus of replicated, shared, and synchronized digital data geographically spread across multiple sites, countries, or institutions. 👈 Decentralized. 😀 Wikipedia
- Blockchains can potentially do all sorts of things, including, but not limited to: recording of events, medical records, and other records management activities, such as identity management, transaction processing, documenting in general, food traceability, voting and much more.
- The first blockchain was implemented by "Satoshi Nakamoto" in 2009 as a core component of Bitcoin where it serves as the public ledger for all transactions.
- What's the BEST blockchain? STEEM is!!! With a transaction time of 3 seconds it's surpassing the others by (non-literal) light years!
