CoinMarketCap.Com Is Celebrating 5 Years

Coinmarketcap.com is now 5 years old.

From monitoring only 7 cryptocurrencies with total market capitalization of $1.6 billion USD and a handful of exchanges it has expanded to monitoring over 1600 cryptocurrencies and 200 exchanges a market capitalization that has reached 835 billion in January of this year.

To celebrate this momentous event it has redesigned its logo, release an iOS app and have added a new feature, the 'Watch List' for quick and easy future reference.

It has also upgraded its API to fix some minor issues with its first version.

Commercial API featuring a historical data will be released soon as well.

Morgan Stanley And Goldman Sachs Rivalry Reaches Crypto Sphere

The rivalry of Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs rivalry is known all over in the traditional markets and in the world of fiat banking now they are taking it to a new space, Cryptocurrencies.

A legitimate source has revealed that Morgan Stanley is already planning to add a trading desk for institutional crypto trades, arbitrage and ICO’s.

The source said that although ultimately they will be competing with the same space they are taking different approach.

Goldman Sachs is engaging customers through third parties, Morgan Stanley wants to engage on a 1-1 basis.

Bitcoin A Screaming Buy Says Hedge Fund CEO

In an interview with Bloomberg Television, Dan Morehead, the CEO of $1 billion cryptocurrency hedge fund Pantera Capital Management LP said that “Bitcoin is a screaming buy right now.”

Pantera has about 10% of its investment in bitcoin but its biggest single investment is ICON which has the technology to let different digital ledgers interact with each other.

He predicts that Bitcoin will recover in 12 months and gain new highs.

The current $400 billion capitalization could balloon to $4 billion, even $40 billion is a possibility he also added.

Bank OF Korea Sees Cryptocurrencies Will Advance Coinless Society

The Bank of Korea together with other central banks overseas has been conducting a project about “Coinless Society.”

They wanted to see the impact of cryptocurrencies to the overall financial system and investigate the feasibility of issuing its own cryptocurrencies.

To demonstrate the project it selected marts and convenience stores were installed with coin deposit service wherein their change are automatically deposited to prepaid cards.

Many believe that the coinless society will eventually lead to cashless society in South Korea at some stage in the future.

Japan's GMO To Launch A New Crpto Trading App In UK

Japenese Forex Giant GMO through is international brand name Z.com and its U.K counterpart Finatext is releasing Pipster a mobile Forex and cryptocurrency trading application that is aimed for the British country.

They aim to provide a simplified, smarter trading platform to a new generation of traders.

The featured filled app was designed to build communities and offer a range of educational materials that seeks to explain the basics of trading.

GMO is considered as one of the world’s largest online retail forex provider by trading volume.
