Blockchain-Related Subsidies Offered By Chinese Government

To attract startup companies to establish their companies in a Blockchain Industrial Park the Chinese government have offered six different types of funding that range from venture capital funding to living allowances.

The primary aim of this initiative is to attract top talent to the industrial park as well as help in financial management, talent recruitment and in supplying needed equipment which is seen as a positive move to improve Blockchain industry in the region.

The Blockchain industrial Park will be located in the province of Hangzhou and will be called Hangzhou Blockchain Industrial Park.

Fund includes up to $468,000 for Masters and PhD students for settlement amount and one-time living allowance, rent allowance of $2.3 million for upstart companies and up to $3.1 million for equity investment guidance.

Maersk Launched Blockchain-Based Marine Insurance

The world’s largest shipping company has said to have launched the first ever Blockchain for marine insurance, Insurwave.

This initiative was developed in collaboration with a software security provider, Guardtime and international accounting firm Ernst & Young.

The platform is being used by Willis Towers Watson, Ms Amlin and XL Catlin. Alastair Swift, the CEO of Willis Towers Watson said that Blockchain can revolutionize insurance as it simplified and streamlined transaction processes.

Martin Henley, Chief information officer of XL Catlin on the other hand sees Blockchain technology to enable policies being automatically updated to reflect risk via IoT and smart contracts.

Currently Maersk is using the said Blockchain platform for its marine hull insurance.

Microsoft Azure provides the Blockchain technology using ACORD standards and together with Guardtime intent to extend Insurwave to other similar industries.
