Segwit2x Canceled Due Lack Of Consensus

Announced November 08 at 16:58 (UTC) in an email by Mike Belshe, one of the leaders of Segwit2x, the Bitcoin hardfork which is supposed to happen mid November this year is cancelled.

The reason of the suspension is they hace not built enougj consensus to pursue the hard fork.

Continuing the fork might create a division to the community and may be a setback to Bitcoin’s growth which is far away from Segwit2x’s goal.

The note was also signed by companies who have supported 2x since the plan was made in May 2017.

The Segwit2x team still hopes to continue the fork in the future once they receive more agreement from the stakeholders.
