The Singapore Fintech Festival Second Edition Kicks Off This Monday

With over 25,000 participants from around the globe, the Singapore Fintech Festival will run for a week starting today, November 13, 2017.

The event is organized by the Singapore's financial regulator and central bank, Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), in partnership with the Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS).

MAS Fintech Chief Sopnendu Mohanty stated that the Singapore Fintech Festival has grown this year to be the biggest in the world.

The global blockchain community expects particularly MAS' technical update on Project Ubin which MAS' initiative to develop and launch a digital Singaporean dollar.

The highlights of the event will be the three-days Fintech conference featuring 160 leaders from regulatory agencies, financial institutions, Fintech conmpanies and central banks.

The event will also showcase 20 Fintech solutions chosen from nearly 600 global submissions which are ready to be deployed in the market.


United Nations And World Identity Network Partner To Launch A Blockchain Pilot To Stop Child Trafficking

During the Humanitarian Blockchain Summit in New York, United Nations announced that two of its agencies are partnering with the World Identity Network (WIN) to deploy a blockchain pilot to help combat child trafficking around the world.

WIN is a universal ID advocacy group which together with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), UN's operational arm in implementing its operations globally and the United Nations Office of Information and Communications Technology (UN-OICT) will create a digital identity on a blockchain to catch traffickers by securing data on an immutable ledger.

With this project, child trafficking attempts will be more traceable and preventable and the three organizations are also open for new partners to support the initiative.
