Singapore's Central Bank: Cryptocurrency Regulation Not Necessary

According to Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), they don't have plans on regulating cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.

Ravi Menon, managing director of MAS said that they do not see any reason to regulate Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

However, there may be laws being formulated that could apply to some cryptocurrency activities and ICOs that relates to money laundering and other potential risks of using them.

So there will just be a case by case situation wherein they will only look at which ones will be needed to bring into regulation and which ones that can stay outside


Russian Entrepreneur Creates Bitcoin, Ethereum and Ethereum Classic Vodka Brands

Dmitry Troitsky a Russian native and entrepreneur has filed for trademark patents for hi product lines of Vodka named after three famous cryptocurrencies Bitcoin, Ethereum and Ethereum Classic.

Even though the government has not been supportive to cryptocurrencies, he believes that people's perception is different and this may bring a lot of attention to his business.

The Vodka line will be more of a gift product or novel concept but with enough push in and Troitsky believes that it could eventually reach commercial success.

No dates yet as to when will it release or details on how will it look like.


Paypal Co-founder Sees Bitcoin As Being Underestimated And Compares It To Gold

Peter Thiel, co-founder of Paypal has been a long time advocate of Bitcoin.

He reiterated again the potential of Bitcoin at the Future Investment Initiative in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Thiel believes that Bitcoin could be the digital version of Gold and could replace it as a reserve currency.

He stated some similarities betwwen Bitcoin and gold such as having limited supply and mineable characteristic.

However, Peter is not very much in favor of other cryptocurrencies which is a little discouraging for altcoin enthusiasts.
