New all-time high Cryptocurrency Market Cap: $122 billion.
Again a new all-time high for the Cryptocurrency Markets today: $122 billion. That may sound like an enormous amount of money, but did you know this is still just 57% of the annual revenue of Apple? And did you know this is still just 1.6% of the value of all gold in the world? The current value of all gold is estimated at $7641 billion according to OnlyGold.com. Just to put it in perspective...
SegWit
We’re at the verge of the true big milestone for Bitcoin. Just 27 blocks to go before SegWit will lock-in on the Bitcoin network! About 5 hours... Once locked-in, SegWit will definitely be activated, but not immediately. Because of the two-week 'grace period', SegWit won't activate until block 481,824, which is currently projected to happen on August 21. This essential 'grace period' gives miners time to upgrade their software. Miners who don't upgrade will be at risk of losing their mining rewards, since their blocks would be rejected if they don't support SegWit after block 481,824. Once locked-in, all miners have to upgrade!
I believe this is a great milestone for the whole crypto industry! Follow it live here: xbt.eu
