πŸ—ž Little Known 'Choppiness Index' Could Warn of Bitcoin Price Breakout

Timing an expected bitcoin price breakout after a prolonged period of consolidation is challenging, but a technical tool called the "choppiness index" may offer some insight.

The leading cryptocurrency has been displaying very choppy (moving in a restricted range) and inconsistent price action for a while now. Further, volatility readings have hit multi-month lows, indicating a big move up or down is overdue.

For instance, volatility, as indicated by Bollinger bandwidth, fell to its lowest in nearly two years on Sept. 26 and has remained low since. Yet, the big move still hasn't materialized.

πŸ—ž Bitcoin's Proof-of-Work Can Be Made More Efficient, IBM Research Claims

  • Scientists from IBM Research claim to have found a way to reshape and combine blockchain architectures including PoW (proof of work), arriving at what they call in a paper a "sweet spot" for energy efficiency, scalability and security, reports Coindesk.
  • The IBM discovery arises from their application of blockchain technology to the IoT use case. IoT devices vary widely in their computational power and energy resources meaning that all, or some of the devices in an IoT network might not be capable of solving the computationally intensive PoW mining tasks performed by bitcoin network miners.
  • The IBM approach divides an IoT network into nodes that are capable of PoW processing, and those that are not. IBM found that grouping IoT nodes into clusters of 250, with 7% of those sub-nodes doing PoW, achieved the optimal balance of scaling and security.

Prior to his work at Coinbase, he reportedly served in the U.S. Air Force and received an MBA from Harvard Business School.

πŸ—ž New Malware Targets Fortnite Cheaters' Bitcoin Wallets

Gamers are no strangers to scams, malware, and hacks. There are many cases where malicious actors will use people's love of video games to steal personal information and even money from unsuspecting victims. Even the biggest names in video games are not immune from these attacks.

Way back in April of 2011, hackers infiltrated the Sony PlayStation network and stole personal information from players' accounts, causing Sony to shut down the entire network for 23 days.

STEEM Trading Update by my friend @cryptopassion

Here is the chart of yesterday :

Here is the current chart :

Like the BTC, the STEEM just went back upper than the support line at 0.80$. You can see that we had a touch on the second support line but that created an immediate bounce wich helped us to go upper again. We are now sitting on the support line at 0.80$. Let's hope that it will hold us and that we will use it to start a bounce.
