The popularity of apps running on a decentralised platforms (DApps) has been stalling lately. According to research site Diar, popular DApp CryptoKitties, the viral blockchain-based game centred on the collection of cartoon cats that disrupted the Ethereum network upon its launch in November 2017, saw its daily visitors drop by 96 per cent over the past few months (to August).
Other big DApps, such as the banking app Bancor, which raised USD153m in 2017, are struggling, too. Bancor reportedly has shrunk to a user base of only 457 daily users.
