If a farmer needs a loan for new animals or machinery they go to this bank and give a wheel or two as collateral. So why Parmigiano Reggiano well a wheel of this cheese coasts a few thousand dollars and the cheese needs to be aged for 18 to 36 months that's why it is treated as a long-term investment.
The bank has a special warehouse where the cheese is stored filled with over 300 000 wheels of Parmigiano Reggiano worth around 160 000 000 Euros.
