Cycling California - Almaden reservoir, past a memorial for Patrick Tillman

Hello all, my ride this afternoon was 24 miles and 700 feet of climbing. It was a cool 55*f, so the knee warmers and a long sleeve base layer were on. (It is the first day of Winter!)

Across from Almaden Quicksilver park, there is a memorial for Patrick Tillman. His name was in the news around 2004/5 as he was killed while in the armed forces in Afganistan.

He was a professional football player for the Arizona Cardinals, a DB/Safety. He left football so he could serve time in the US Army. The real sad part of his story is that the US Military mentioned that he was killed in action, but the truth came out that he was actually killed by friendly fire.

Right next to his memorial is this placard about the mining that was done here in the early 1800's. This area mined 'quicksilver' or mercury which was used in the gold rush to assist with the accumulation of the small gold particles.
