Daily Pet Photography Event of @kona - gray treefrog dons an African Wax Print!

Little gray frog

in the flower pots under my bench,
you should go visit our pond, I said.
I carried him over to the water's edge, and he leaped right in. I snapped a photo, and when I zoomed in on it was surprised to see the yellow pattern:

Ark-Vayo could use you as a mascot!

I don't blame you if you'd rather swim, little fellow

ID'd at last!

Gray Treefrog Hyla versicolor

Gray Treefrog showing the bright flash color normally hidden on the hind legs. This color is used to startle and confuse predators. A predator sees bright yellow hopping. When the frog stops and tucks in his legs the bright color is instantly gone.
