Life can be unfair, but death cannot be. You are entitled to die, not because of age, not because of conditions, and not because of status . Death is our truest destiny.
I once heard this from a homily:
One bishop asked the church goers if they wanted to go to heaven. Expectedly, everyone answered that they wanted to go to heaven by raising their hands. But when the bishop asked who wanted to die, nobody dared to raised their hands.

- Old Age/Natural Death. I think this is the most fortunate kind of death. One is given a long span of time to enjoy one's life and live it meaningfully and purposely . Many, if not all, desire this kind of death.

- Accident. Death doesn't exempt anyone. Even the most careful person in the universe cannot be totally protected from accidents and death.

- Suicide. I have over-heard from an educator that people who committed suicide, are the strongest people on earth. The idea of killing one's self is already a proof of their strength. But I guess, sometimes, in life we have to admit that we are weak, because we really are. It is our relationship with God, our families, friends and relatives that give us strength to go on. Strength is very subjective.

- Abortion. Abortion is ending the life of a baby conceived on the womb. According to an ex-seminarian, it is actually 10 times worse than that of murder. I strongly agree in that because taking a life of a baby who cannot fight for his/her right to life is beyond murder.

Edith has not found her true love yet. She has big dreams of having a family of her own, she wants to prove to her mother that she can be a good parent.
In the example situation, Edith has not felt living her life meaningfully. Her happiness depends to other people. She feels that she has to find first her true love and have a family of her own before she can truly say she lived meaningfully.Edith is very young. She wanted to be a stewardess and visit the world. She is adventurous. But, she hasn't done any of it at the present.
It clearly says that Edith fear death because she hasn't done any of the things that she want in her life. It is very vital to each of us to start making our dreams come true. Time is as precious as the diamonds and pearls and gold. Waste no more time because death come like a thief in the night.Edith is the breadwinner of the family. She thinks that if she departs on this earth early, she will leave her family suffering. She doesn't have enough savings.
It only means that we should prepare for our death as early as now.
We do not know when is our last breath. We should live as if it is our last.
Death is a Door of Eternal Life.
As a Christian, I strongly believe that there is life after death. Because, if I have not believed in that why would I care to follow the law of man and God? Why would I care to teach effectively and effeciently? Why would I care making other people happy? Why would I care to work religiously and consistently?

Death is the door to heaven. Our good deeds, actions, and intentions are the keys to it.
Lastly, you have nothing to fear about death if you truly live.
