This song is clearly a special song for me personally. There's no question that I get stripped back to my core every time I perform it.
Silence (Waves of Life)...
...So that wonderful thing of winning 2nd place in Open Mic week 77!
It means a great deal to me and I think, especially judging from the emotional outpouring of long comments on the post itself, bringing up the topic possibly means a lot to a lot of other people too.
What it means to others
You know, all those people out there (possibly reading this) that hide their loneliness behind their computer screens, through all the online white noise, that feel like someone has actually spoken up for their suffering and that the Open Mic judges (listed below), and all the other lovely Steemers out there that took the time to listen to the song, it makes these lonely people feel like you hear their plight and you care for them too.
What it means to me
For me personally, all those precious words that each of you wrote, both of my performance, songwriting and message, as well as your own personal experiences around suicide and depression, was really deeply touching and even a bit overwhelming (in a good way). Again, I implore you to read the comments of the post itself.
There is healing magic in honest heart-openings like this.
Special personal thanks to @luzcypher, @meno, @verbal-d, @sound-legion, @passion-ground, @krystle, and @pfunk for all your passion, hard work, care and support in #openmic.
Plus massive thanks to all of my dear supportive @helpie, PAL & MSP Waves friends...
If you wish to here the original album released version of the song, which I am extremely proud of and will even make your hardened stoic dad's eyes well up, please click this musicoin link:
To whomever is reading this, please let this sink in.
(even if you don't currently believe it)
You are loved.
(even if you don't currently believe it)
You are beautifully unique.
(even if you don't currently believe it)
You are currently in one of the waves of life, that I speak of, (either up or down) right now.
Take solace in the fact that each wave won't last.
But heed this, if you are feeling exhausted from the, oftimes, tumultuosness of the waves, then you don't have to swim it alone.
Reach out to someone else, instead of trying to tread water by yourself.
Each one of us are potential surf lifeguards that can help provide some respite from exhaustion caused by dealing with depression, isolation, or anxiety alone.
There are hotlines in your country with caring and understanding people who hold your privacy and dignity high in their priority.
You may as well just call and chat and see...
For those who aren't in that darker place, you have the power to look around you to reach out to those that maybe feeling to scared, or embarrassed, or in too much denial to reach out for help.
Blessings, thanks & love to you...
