Well here we are again friends - the beginning of a new year! The first and fresh week when we share our motivations and goals to achieve for the year. As for keeping up with my postings. I am going to continue writing about public projects in the architectural realm to establish an archive here on Steemit. Of course, I am going to continue Herbert von King Park signage and installation project this year and keep you guys updated too.
For today’s posting, I want to introduce you guys one of the public projection projects of mine. I was introduced to projection art by Krzysztof Wodiczko, a Polish projection artist who actively convey a political message via projection medium.

프로젝션을 통해 도시의 건물 위나 동상 등에 정치적인 메세지를 입히는 예술, 크리슈토프 보디츠코
My partner, Matthew, and I wanted to cast our imagination onto Le Corbusier's facade, the Carpenter Center. When Corbusier was designing the building, he was obsessed with human body movements. We wanted to render that story into a media format and juxtapose it onto tessellated concrete facade. We were able to map the projection perfectly and invite friends and colleagues to act out in front of a green screen. It’s a historic building by a historic architect, and it was quite an unusual experience to personify the building with our own creative and temporary narrative.

저의 프로젝트 파트너와 건축가 르코르뷔지에 빌딩 위에 프로젝션을 계획했습니다. 르코르뷔지에가 빌딩을 설계할 때 영감이 되었던 "사람의 움직임" 에 기반해 메세지를 짜고, 지인들의 연기 실력을 빌려 녹화했습니다.
빌딩 비율, 규모 등을 맵핑해서 녹화해놓은 비디오를 맞추었습니다. 장비와 소프트웨어등을 잘 다뤄서 정확하게 쏘는것이 중요합니다. 선과 조금이라도 어긋나면 지저분해 보일 수 있습니다. 몇번의 시도 끝에, 프로젝션과 스피커를 성공 시켰습니다.
It was most challenging to perfect the angle and scale of projections to burst it in public. After many trials and errors, we were able to project it right onto the building facade at an almost perfect angle. When the story was playing on the facade, the ramp and street turned into an ephemeral public auditorium. All the passerby's stopped and watched the show that we put on the facade. The sound, crisp weather and white noises all together created a whole new atmospheric quality to the project.

2016년 4월 16일 저와 지인들은 서울 도심에 위치한 동상에 구명조끼를 입히는 프로젝션을 기획한 적이 있습니다. 공공 프로젝션 아트는 시민들에게 메세지를 전달함에 있어 상당히 파워풀한 포멧입니다.
