As real Breaking Bad fans, we gladly accepted the short detour to Albuquerque. We already knew that many locations were actually filmed in the city itself, so we researched the internet for the exact addresses.
House of Walter White
Since the house of the White family has become a magnet for many fans, the current residents reacted quickly annoyed by the many tourists. But during our visit (2015) we hardly met any other fans and in recent years the hype will be even further flattened.
The office of the Lawyer Saul Goodman is now used by another business and was not a particularly spectacular sight.
Our next stop was the house of Jesse Pinkman, which has a nice garden and is located in a quiet neighborhood.
The drive-in restaurant Dog House, which occurs in several episodes and also in Better Call Saul really exists and is also very close.
Just outside the city is the laundry, which will be used from the 3rd season as a superlab for the production of meth.
Although this house not occurs in any episode, but it provides an important part of the series.
It is the true drug laboratory where the blue methamphetamine is produced. This consists essentially of sugar and dye ;)
Albuquerque
In the afternoon we continued to the Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument. So far, we had hardly heard anything from this park and so the visit was a spontaneous opportunity because of its near location.
Therefore we were more than surprised by the great rock formations and the beautiful landscape.
The park is quite small and can be completely explored on a short hike. We also really liked the Slot Canyon, which you have to cross during the hike.

Als echte Breaking Bad Fans nahmen wir den kurzen Abstecher nach Albuquerque gerne in Kauf. Wir wussten bereits, dass viele Drehorte auch wirklich in der Stadt selbst gedreht wurden und so recherchierten wir im Internet nach den genauen Adressen.
Haus von Walter White
Da das Haus der Familie White zum Besuchermagnet für viele Fans geworden ist, reagierten die derzeitigen Bewohner von den vielen Touristen schnell genervt. Bei unserer Besichtigung (2015) trafen wir aber kaum andere Fans und der Hype wird in den letzten Jahren noch weiter abgeflacht sein.
Das Büro des Anwalts Saul Goodman dient mittlerweile einem anderen Geschäft als Unterkunft und war kein sonderlich spektakulärer Anblick.
Unser nächster Stop war das Haus von Jesse Pinkman, welches einen schönen Garten hat und in einer ruhigen Nachbarschaft liegt.
Auch das Drive-in Restaurant Dog House, welches in mehreren Folgen und auch in Better Call Saul vorkommt, gibt es wirklich und liegt ganz in der Nähe.
Etwas außerhalb der Stadt liegt die Wäscherei, welche ab der 3. Staffel als Superlab zur Herstellung von Meth benutzt wird.
Dieses Haus ist zwar in keiner Folge zu sehen, liefert aber einen wichtigen Bestandteil der Serie.
Es ist nämlich das wahre Drogenlabor, wo das blaue Methamphetamin produziert wird. Dieses besteht im Wesentlichen aus Zucker und Farbstoff ;)

Am Nachmittag ging es dann weiter zum Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument. Bisher hatten wir von diesem Park kaum etwas gehört und so war es eher ein spontaner Gelegenheitsbesuch, da er auf der Strecke lag.
Umso überraschter waren wir von den tollen Gesteinsformationen und der schönen Landschaft.
Der Park ist recht klein und kann auf einer kurzen Wanderung komplett erkundet werden. Sehr gut gefallen hat uns auch der Slot-Canyon, den man bei der Wanderung durchqueren muss.
