Uses for empty 5 liter bottles- channeling a broken gutter.

We share the roof with our neighbor and it seems somewhere along the way the gutter pulled away, leaving a gap directly above the back door. IMG_3178.JPGFor the most part it isn't a problem until it starts raining. Yesterday we had 2 rain showers (yay!) and I was able to catch around 20 liters of water from this gap alone. However, a lot of the water coming out goes to waste as it sprays and is blown about. The spray ends up on the wooden door which is not ideal.

This morning by way of an experiment I cut a water bottle to clip over the hole in the hopes that it would channel the water in one direction, away from the door. IMG_3172.JPG

Its easy enough to take down if it doesn't work or when the day comes that the agent sends someone to come fix it.
Until then I hope to keep harvesting rainwater. Lol I wonder how long it will take the Home Owners Association to ask me to take it down?

The gutters are ancient. You don't find that shape anymore so I suspect that it's going to take either some sort of epoxy glue putty or replacing the entire back gutter for both houses to get it fixed.

In the mean time I'll go research those insta fix putties. Just need it to be white...
