Ulog 23 Funeral Jim

Thumbnail

Today was a bittersweet day. I had a nice visit with a friend I hadn't seen in a while. but we were meeting up because we were going to the funeral of a friend together.
Jim was one of the founders of the Rare Fruit Growers of San Diego and had dedicated his life to growing rare fruit and to develop new varieties. Grafting was his favorite thing in the world. I learned from him how to graft and we spend countless hours in the garden together.
Jim was 85 when he passed, and I learned from him by his teachings and also I learned some things I don't want to do. One example is that he never installed irrigation in his extensive orchard. Hand watering is a full-time job!! I am working very hard on getting my property set up with irrigation and to automate it.
His passing also made me think about how I want to be buried and know that I want a mushroom suit and become compost. Now, I need to find out how to make that happen.
As always, the YouTube version
