We all were going to gather at my oldest son's house for Thai Takeout. He and his family had just returned from Colorado, my youngest son was still at the house from his dog watching duty, and my daughter and family are about to leave to go to Germany.
Today was the day - or we will have to wait several weeks for a chance to hang out together again. We all like each other's company and feel sad if we don't see each other much.
An hour before dinner time, my daughter texted that the little one has a rash all over.
It always seems to happen that way - kids are getting sick when it is the worst possible time. My oldest son's little one was sporting a 103 degrees fever the day before their trip - he was fine the next day.
Dinner was delicious.
In closing, I leave you with a grandma parenting tip. Chose your battles. Have some clear boundaries with your kids and ignore the little stuff. The more you tell them what to do, the harder life is for everyone.
