Sveti Jakov Beach is located in the eastern part of Dubrovnik and is said to be one of the most beautiful beaches there! Luckily, our apartment was literally a few minutes walk from it so we decided to head up there in the early hours of the afternoon heat.
It was a lovely trek with the brilliant sunshine beating down on us. So much as that I couldn’t help but take a few more sneaky photos, lol.
Sveti Jakov Beach is a secluded pebble beach tucked away within the tiny bay and offering up distant but spectacular views of Dubrovnik Old Town and Lokrum island. The beach itself boasts crystal clear water and is absolutely beautiful! The white pebble beach combined with the shimmering turquoise colours, are a match made in "vacation" heaven!
The beach was not as crowded as elsewhere, seeming to attract more locals than tourists. What a cozy little hidden gem this is and just perfect for a nice relaxing dip. A bit of advice is to remember taking your flip flops or beach shoes as walking with your bare feet on the stone pebbles, can be hard work as well as a little painful, hehe.
The views of Dubrovnik were second to none. After the swim, @ezzy and I decided to have late lunch at the nearby restaurant there. Though it did seem to be way understaffed as we waited for almost an hour for our food and the restaurant was only half full!
The food however was good. @ezzy went for his usual meatfest of beefsteak and chips, which he enjoyed and I opted for the Shrimps “Buzara”. The shrimps, complete with heads and tails, are cooked with olive oil, wine and loads of fresh herbs, almost like a “shrimp stew”. The sauce was rich and delicious but at the same did not over power the freshness of the seafood. Perfect for dipping a few slices of crusted soft bread in!
This is a super tasty Croatian dish and would highly recommend if you have not tried it before.
Soaking up this lovely sun and a fantastic view, we returned to our apartment for a little rest from the rays. Cannot wait for the new upcoming adventures for the next few days!
