A Great Adventure on the Island of Mljet - Pomena / 姆列特岛探险之Pomena

On the luscious island of Mljet, we stayed in a small village called Govedari. The village is nice and quiet, with only local people living there. The stone-built house was one of the kind, very traditional in construction and pretty cool. It is located right at the top of steep hill so climbing up daily provides for some much needed exercise for both @ezzy and myself, considering we hardly walk in London. Well, now I am sure we've more than made it up for it, haha!

Situated in the southern region of Croatia, Mljet claims to be one of the most beautiful islands in the world. And that's not without good evidence to support this. Therefore, we are super excited to explore the island. First stop is Pomena!

The weather was not particularly sunny when we arrived and was actual showering a bit, however that didn’t stop us in the least, lol. We really enjoyed our 20 minute walk to Pomena.

Rarely has an island impressed me as much as Mljet has. The entire island is littered with pinewoods, olive trees, vineyards and lush green forestry. I could even sense this sweet fresh flavour wafting through the air wherever you walked! It was a divine paradise. Some highlights here include rare plants and animal species. It is a national park, after all. So much to discover and explore on this natural slice of beauty.

Arriving at Pomena, there is a small harbour village in the west part of Mljet with approx fifty local residents living there. It is well connected, offering daily boat schedules back to the city of Dubrovnik. Pomena is also home to a discreet bay which is suitable for anchoring smaller yachts and boats.

Pomena hosts the only supermarket in the whole of Mljet as well as featured activities such as bicycles for rent, canoes and surfboards, to name a few. But today, glorious weather aside, @ezzy and I just felt like chilling and enjoying some delicious fresh seafood delicacies by the sea front.

Pomena!
