Fine Dining at the Elegant White Swan Hotel in Guangzhou / 广州白天鹅宾馆的玉堂春暖中餐厅

With the kind hospitality of our business partner in Guangzhou, my colleague and I were invited to have dinner at the famous White Swan Hotel, which is located on the beautiful island of Shamian in Guangzhou.

The White Swan Hotel is the first formally recognized five-star hotel in Guangzhou and is considered an integral part of the rich history, culture and ambiance of the city of Guangzhou. Not to mention, it also features a beautiful man-made garden complete with small waterfall and lake within the hotel grounds. Very cool indeed, I'm hope you'll agree!

People say no visit to the White Swan Hotel is complete until you try out the signature Cantonese eatery at Jade River Restaurant. Jade River Restaurant is the main food outlet within the White Swan Hotel, offering Cantonese dishes in a theme reminiscent of a 19th century upmarket tea shop with a central pond and retro-styled wooden furniture. On-site entertainment included traditional Chinese instruments being played on the side. Eating an authentic meal at Jade River is all about the experience it provides for the customer. The artistic look of the food combined with the atmospheric "traditional" surroundings.

Our meal came accompanied with Jasmine tea, which is a delicious type green tea, bright and fresh. One of my favourite, in fact.

Being someone from the Cantonese province, I know how very much we love soup! It is similar to the French who love their bread, lol.

To enjoy the true authenticity of Cantonese-style food, it is highly recommended to start off with roast duck with pancake in addition to roasted pork belly. The flavour of the meat is simply out of this world! Jade River Restaurant has certainly done supreme justice in terms of the taste! Though I do particularly love the roast duck. It's great to sit back and watch as the chef showcases his expertise in shredding the duck right in front of you, lol.

Sweet and Sour Pork is arguably one of the most popular of all Cantonese dishes and definately the most classical one. The succulent, juicy pork mixed with tender peppers, pineapple and beautiful flavoursome sweet and sour sauce, was absolutely delicious. Going perfectly with a bowl of plain steamed rice on the side.

Beef Chow Fun is a favourite Cantonese dish of mine, taking me back to my childhood in Guangzhou. The dish is made from stir-fried beef, ginger, bean sprouts and dark soy. The first bite into that juicy beef chow fun was just unforgettable. A total comfort food for me if ever there was one and so well executed! Pure excellence on a plate.

Finally, I ordered a dessert of milk custard with cheese on top. It was presented in an open top egg shell, which was quite unique and interesting! Perfection the way it should be, gently melting away in your mouth.

We had a truly authentic Cantonese meal at the excellent Jade River Restaurant, within the 5 star White Swan Hotel itself. What a culinary experience. One, in fact, that you are guaranteed not to forget for a very long time to come!


在广州商业伙伴的热情款待下,我和同事来到大名鼎鼎的白天鹅宾馆享用晚餐。

白天鹅宾馆坐落于充满历史色彩的沙面,是广州首家获得正式认可的五星级酒店,颇具历史和文化上的重要地位。宾馆的设计集合了中国传统园林的特色,建造了室内花园和璧山瀑布,环境优美,令人倍感轻松愉快。

宾馆里面的玉堂春暖中餐厅的正宗粤菜很值得一试。餐厅有着传统的庭院设计,人造荷塘和复古风格的红木家具,十分典雅。我们吃饭的时候,还有现场的古筝表演哦! 这里的环境服务真心好,让你尽情享受休闲片刻,呵呵!

玉堂春暖最为出名的是精巧的手工创意点心和广府名菜,非常正宗。下面我和大家分享一下我们点的几款菜式。

首先上桌的是茉莉绿茶。一边欣赏服务员的纯熟手艺,一边品尝浓郁清香,沁人心脾的茉莉花茶,太享受了!

地道的广州人没有不爱喝汤的,而饭前先喝碗慢火煲煮的老火靓汤已成为广州人生活中必不可少的一部分。这里的老火炖野鸭汤非常好喝,特别滋润!

说到经典的粤菜,明炉烤乳猪和烤鸭都是名列前茅的。而这家餐厅把这两道菜做得非常出色,口感和味道都一流,让人无法抗拒!特别是绝美脆皮烤鸭,师傅会在你面前现场切,非常有趣,呵呵。

糖醋咕噜肉是另一道受欢迎的粤菜之一。这道菜不但卖相好,酸酸甜甜的味道吃到嘴里能让你舌头上的味蕾都跳起来,哈哈!配上一碗蒸米饭,就更完美了!

干炒牛河是我最喜欢的粤菜,那滋味让我回忆起我的童年。 它是以芽菜,河粉和牛肉等炒成,看起来简单但要做得好吃,却是很考验厨师的手艺。

椒丝腐乳通心菜和上汤番薯叶都做得不错。

最后,我还来了一份双皮奶甜点。芝士蛋糕焗双皮奶放在蛋壳里呈上,不但独特有新意,还好好吃哦,浓香甜滑!

白天鹅宾馆的玉堂春暖中餐厅简直就是传统粤菜的代表,一流的水平,很值得推荐。大家有机会也来尝尝吧!
