[dlive.io question] - how do I improve my microphone audio in obs?

Yep, if you didn’t know this don’t worry I kinda fell on it as well and actually you can really improve on the existing microphone quality if your just not ready to go pro yet and shell out for that top end microphone, this little trick allows some tweaking and improvement and best of all it’s free! :)

The two VST plugins we are looking at today are for the Mac but you can find a bunch of free VST plugins for windows around the net so I suggest you do some searching and digging around for them, some of them are basic and some are advanced like the ones I got.

I don’t know completely how all the buttons work so it’s a bit of trial and error and I’d say the best thing to do is to turn monitor on and have some decent headphones in and listen back to the quality as you make adjustments — if you have normal noises in the room you might be able to filter them with the EQ and the COMPRESSOR is great to stop you from peaking (i.e being too loud into the microphone)

Either way, both the eq and compressor free VST plugin really improve the sound of your existing microphone. Nothing beats doing this in hardware by the way but if you can’t afford that this is the next option, be aware thou this does add additional CPU strain on your computer so experiment.

Hope this helps and I hope you get better audio from trying it! :)

Cheers!
Phil
