Hello friends ;)
This is my entry of @helene's Drawing Challenge #5. This week's theme is about "your hands", so i drew the skeletal structure of my hand because i think bones are just perfect example of beauty. :)
If you are interested in the drawing challenge go visit this LINK to know more about it.
The Process:
1. Drawing guidelines
Sorry about the blurry picture, I was drawing this very lightly so that i could erase it easier.
In this picture, i drew the base of the palm in a simple rectangular shape. This will be the guide for the bones of the hand.
Here, I drew straight lines that would be the guide for the finger bones and the circles are the placement for the bulky part of the finger bones. This will help with the correct proportions.
2. Tracing and Detailing
In this step, I drew the bone of hand by tracing all the guidelines.
3. Drawing the butterfly
In this step, I first drew the basic figure of the butterfly with cirle as its back and the triangle for its wings.
Drawing the shape of the butterfly.
Adding the details of the butterfly. Just adding a bunch of lines hoping it would look good.
Now, adding circles to its wings.
Drawing the plants
I added plants to make the picture more lively. I also added some grass and pebbles. I just kept doodling with it. :)
Shading
Time for shading, I Shaded the bones thinking that the light is at the right side so I made the right lighter than the left side.
Smudging
Now it's my most favorite part, the smudging :) the smearing of the graphite on the paper. I'm still practicing it though and can't control it very well. I used cotton buds to control the graphite but I still cant get it to look 3D.
Coloring (most hated part)
Butterfly
It's coloring time. This is the step that i hate the most because I suck at it so much. It will make my drawings even worse. But I colored it anyways, to challenge myself. No improvement though. :(
Plants
The plants where supposed to be daisies and dandelions but then I realized that there was no yellow pen and the dandelions where hard to draw. So, i just colored the plants something that has bright color that why its is looking so orange. I have no idea what plant this is at this point.
Finished product
So, this is it! I hope you like the drawing even a little at least. ;)
I enjoyed drawing this hand.
