Here is my entry for the drawit better contest no. 12 by @sirsensei 's which is themed Sunflowers. I have never painted any flower before so this entry of mine is a first to me. It quite challenging for to paint different shades of yellow. It really took me two days to be able to finish this piece. I kept on changing the details. I'm the perfectionist type of artist. Well, I think all artists want their piece to be perfect and satisfying. I just finished my piece this morning because I had a few changes with the design of the background. Actually, i did finish my piece last night but I didn't like the design of the background since it will overcoloured my sunflower. I hope you like my entry and below are my work's process.

1st
For the background, i used the water colour medium. I first brushed it off with water then color yellow and painted orange to the side. I let it dry for abour 5-10 minutes because it's reall damp with waterπŸ˜‚. (sure it will be damp with water because I brushed it off with water like dzuh πŸ˜‘πŸ˜’πŸ˜‚)

After it dried, I used another medium which is the acrylic paint. I like how pigmented the acrylic and how the colors are well mixed and it also dries faster . Anyways, i just love acrylic paint.
I painted the circle thingy of the sunflower. I don't know what it's called but yea the round thingy center of the sunflower. (there was a process where i changed the details of this heheh because I still am not satisfied with it.)

I then traced the first layer of petals of the sunflower using a primary yellow and yellow ochre mixed. Then painted it with another layer and another shades of yellow.
This was the harderst part that I did.
