Hi Steemians!
Here's a quick sketch for the fun Drawitbetter Contest promoted by @sirsensei, whose theme this week is elephants, how can you imagine animals is one of my favorite themes and participate in something like that is always a pleasure for me, as usual follows below a description of the creative process, I hope you like it!
STEP 1) Ah yes, everything needs to start from some point and in this case is the artline, if it is a comic illustration I chose to use a brush with traditional pencil characteristics to leave it with the most natural impression.
[!!] For the composition our friend needed to express something be a feeling or "tell a story" in the form of action, it was then that the image of a figure in a hurry to get somewhere came to mind, the fact of having seen the contest almost on the last day and having created the design hastily helped a lot in choosing the theme.
STEP 2) Then I proceeded to choose the color palette and the painting of the flat colors, a quick search in the internet browser on fashion and style of the 40s solved the problem...
STEP 3) Defined the basic colors is time to choose which direction to take in the drawing, usually it depends on personal taste and the individual process of each one, here I chose to start defining what would be the points of light and where it would come and what I would like to stay evident in our friend, perhaps a little focus on his expression, in the arms that tell a little of what is happening and finally in the legs.
STEP 4) After this process, I give the final adjustments and define where the shadow points will be to give more volume to the drawing, apply an extra layer of highlight until you get the result that you can check above.
