Never Trust an Elf

Here is the next single from our album I am publishing on dsound for the world to behold. Original music recorded by our band Curses!

Following the past couple submissions, this is the next track on the I Am Legend album. Never Trust and Elf is a ~7 minute long epic that tells a cautionary tale of Elves in far away lands. I originally wrote the riff that became the song as a slower jam less rock and more drone. Lyricist Torso Giallo took this and ran with it to create the epic tale he had been waiting to write since we read the pulp science fiction novel of the same name shadowrun.wikia.com/wiki/Source:Never_Trust_An_Elf from the Shadowrun universe that geeked up our youth. shadowrun.com

Besides the main melody, you can hear layers of back-masking (me and bass player Jimmy Freedom reading entries from our own poetry books we had written for years) piano (there was one in the studio so why not?) and possibly smell pot smoke. We played this song at every show we ever played and it never turned out the same way twice. We always start with random improvisation, the drummer randomly starts up, and we organically unite for a crescendo that is the launch of the melody.

If you are listening for some Zeke Vocals, I am backing the lead vocalist in the chorus and the breakdown. Enjoy!

Never Trust an Elf

Never trust an elf in a grassy glade
Firing ten bows at a passing wave
Or gaze into a pool with reflectin' rays
Prophesied visions from an end of days

Never trust a man with a silver cloak
Or voices rising from the ol' villian's mote
Or anybody else. This includes your very self
Never trust an elf. Never trust an elf. Ever.

HEY! Y'know your GxGx right
Never trust an elf with a crooked smile
And an empty pipe

Never make a deal with an elf in sight
Staring into the vast reaches of the night
Or walk the lands residing on the peak of shore
The Northernmost outpost of elven lore

Never trust a mage with too much on his plate
A ruthless harginger of eternity's fate
Never believe without seeing yourself
Never trust an elf. Never trust an elf. Ever.

Never trust a man with no fear for his life
Travel in his heart, the road his wife
Don't romanticize the wanderlust
Here there is a creature unfit for trust

They roll through the waters of most any ports
Or vilify the most exhalted one's royal court.
Runs around the law with inhuman stealth
Never trust an elf. Never trust an elf. Ever.
