For some reason, I've never really thought of this song as a ukulele cover, but earlier today I was looking up the "Top ukulele songs" and this one came up! My favorite website for getting ukulele music is ukutabs.com and they do a great job of posting various lists such as "Top 100 ukulele songs of all time" and "Top 100 Ukulele Songs Today". They keep these lists updated and so it's a great spot to check out what's happening in the ukulele world.
They also just have a really great interface, with the chords clearly laid out at the top and the ability to easily transcribe the music. This is a real game changer because sometimes songs are in a really difficult key to either play or sing and simply going down a half step can make all the difference. I promise that i'm not sponsored by this website... just a big fan! :)
I like this song because it is about a tortured soul that is just looking for human connection - no matter where it comes from. Even though he's paying for the affection of another, it somehow makes him feel more human and less alone. I think it's a beautiful and sad song all at the same time. I had a lot of fun making this cover and I hope you guys enjoy it!
Ps... do you guys like my bookshelf? I am running out of "creative" spots to film in my small apartment, and I thought the bookshelf made a great backdrop!
