FLAT COLOR 2D ART - ADVENTURE

This is my first character design using flat color design, It was a good learning experience for me getting used to a new type of art style.

Flat design is a minimalist user interface (UI) design genre, or design language, commonly used in graphical user interfaces (such as web applications and mobile apps), especially in such graphical materials as posters, arts, guide documents, publishing products. source

This type of art style is quite interesting to me because it forces to artist to make use of simple color techniques to make flat colors come to life.

I also noticed most web interactive illustration are made in flat colors, even narative youtube video also uses this style of design.

For this particular character. I drew inspiration from the cartoon. Adventure time

Unlike my previous artwork. I didn't have to sketch it out first. flat color design simply makes use of simple geometric shapes and color. the shapes I used the most for this drawing is rounded rectangle and circle.

I also had to trim and cut to make some new shapes.

At first, I wanted to just make a simple face potrait with a flat color shading, but I decided to make a semi full body, then I also added a landscape background.
