This year is the first time I've been teaching gardening to children ages 5 to 8,
in French schools.
This initiative is in partnership with our garden center which is the first favorite of the French
and the government.
The week was delayed due to bad weather in March.
Tuesday morning, we started with germination theory,

what is a seed, the different stages of its evolution to arrive at giving a plant.
We ask them questions so that it is participative and they are not bored!
What do they need? earth, water, sun ... for some dark as mushrooms,
which, like the mushrooms of Paris, grow in cellars, there was astonishment for many.
The importance of planting flowers, vegetables, trees if not hills, soils would not be supported,
and would suffer many landslides!
We moved to the theme of animals that protect our gardens.
They loved to answer, animals and children have a close and important connection.
Why not kill them but protect them, hedgehogs that feed on slugs, caterpillars, spider.
Bats mosquitoes, moths, beetle.
Butterflies, bees for pollination and many more.
The afternoon was devoted to practice.
We planted strawberry and mint plants.
They also sow seeds of flowers and vegetables in large bins.
They dressed in their little gardener's aprons that we gave them.
There we had a lot of fun, the pleasure in their eyes of putting hands in the ground,
to know that these beautiful plants will give them beautiful strawberry to taste it !!!
Thursday morning we discussed the importance of pollination mainly by the bee.
How many bees do you need in 2 weeks to produce 1 kg of honey?

There are many answers: 30, 100, "no more" !!
6000 there general astonishment! ohhh
How many flowers will they forage for? 100, 200,1000?
And 6 million! Ouahhhh
They are really passionate about this part.
I present a hotel to insects (and yes it exists !!) so that they can take refuge to reproduce
or spend the winter.
I tell them the importance of protecting them, bees, butterflies, drones,
because otherwise we would not have more vegetables and fruits to eat!
Do not use harmful products such as weed killers and chemical treatments on our plants,
which also destroy insects and birds that are disappearing more and more
quickly in France.

I'm happy to answer their hundred questions,
their curiosity is limitless and I create a bond with them,
he calls me a teacher! It's so cute.
Friday workshop to make them feel the different aromatic and medicinal plants
that I grow in my garden.
They squeeze the lavender with their little fingers and are delighted to smell its pleasant smells!
We continue with lemon verbena, romain, thyme, mint.
They all plant a small pot of basil that they bring home,
and I offer them 2 bags of flower seeds to plant in their gardens or on their terraces.
(Hi, it's me at school!)
These days were a real pleasure for me,
to have been able to make known to all these children the importance of nature and respect
that we must have for her.
All this education so vital at the moment our planet is so in danger,
by the destruction we make him suffer.
If we can make them understand at their age,
they who are the future of our world to preserve this treasure which is our Earth.
I hope to have made things happen on my small scale,
and that they remember me and my advice.
(School gifts)
A big thank you to all these adorable children !!!!
And thanks to the mistresses for their wonderful gifts that we have offered.
Pictures of children with their faces are forbidden by the school
because of the abuse of the internet.
So I complied with this choice quite reasonable.
