Today's lesson will cover E Phrygian and the spacing between its intervals. From the perspective of Ionian, the intervals would be 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 1, 2, 3, while the spacing would be h, w, w, w, h, w, w. From the perspective of E, the spacing would remain the same obviously, but the intervals would be 1, 2, b3, 4, 5, b6, b7, 1.
A previous lesson goes more indepth of various perspectives that can be deployed to understand this mode. The lesson discusses the frets to play perspective with octives distnicntly colored. It also discusses the recommended fingering and the intervals. The recommended fingering of E Phrygian, at can be anywhere obviously, but for these lessons we recommend at either the open fret or the 12th fret. The 12th fret provides more space to move around but is a higher pitch so their are tradeoffs in postioning subject to what your goal is and what you are trying to communicate.
