Learn Guitar: F Lydian Spacing

Today we will discuss the spacing of the intervals in F Lydian and the spacing between. From the perspective of C Ionian, the intervals would be 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 1, 2, 3. But if we look at the 3 as a 1, then the spacing would be 1, 2, 3, #4, 5, 6, 7, 1. Thus the chord one might play for this mode would be a major because a major instead of minor 3. The spacing between the intervals would be w, w, w, h, w, w, h.

This mode being a major mode can be nice for an interesting major harmony perhaps a song with an uplifting mood but something a little dissonant from ionian. Perhaps for a good day blaze of disc golf in a late afternoon sun but before work when the squares come and you got to wait like a commie.

Tomorrow we will cover mixolydian and complete all the spacing for the modes. There is a previous post about lydian if you would like recommended fingering and what frets to play in a certain postion.
