The Fundamental Reasons Why The Education System Is Broken

Some thoughts I have about the education systems; conclusions after having gone through two different education systems in the world: Pakistan and USA.

Competition and Comparison.

Ever since we are children we are taught to compare. We're in constant competition with others. We're told to excel in sports and do better. We're told to get better grades than another. We're taught comparison. We are conditioned to be as clever or more than our peers or even our own brothers and sisters.

Comparison is the root of all problems in the education system. It's not about finding problems in the system. The real examination lies in the psychological underpinnings of the entire system itself. The reasons why it is this way now. Domination. Control.

This is to keep the public mind enfeebled. To limit experience. To encumber the mind so that the individual is constantly in a state of emergency and competition in this jungle we call the modern technocratic culture and society. Here's where classrooms break apart. A mutual inquiry has been turned into a lecture.

Teachers Can't Teach Outside The Standardized Curriculum

Another reason why the System fails is that teachers are extremely limited in what can be taught due to the standards established by the State.

And if they were to do so, they would risk losing their jobs. The education system has been designed to keep the human mind enfeebled for the most part. Public education systems have rarely produced great minds.

Lack of Funding

It's apparently a lot more important to dominate the planet using an insanely large army, and then bring in foreign students and give them scholarships than to spend some money on providing more resources to the children of our own country. It's more important to show off by building stadiums which cost billions and will never again be used. It's more important to spend a trillion dollars on a plane that doesn't work. But educationg our own is apparently not that important.

Too Much School. Not Enough Playtime

In many countries around the world the children are made to work very long hours and then given a lot of homework. USA is a great example of this. In many other countries which produce good contributing and healthy citizens the education system allows the children to have less school time, more play hours and almost no homework. These minds are free to explore the Universe unencumbered by massive amounts of work for which they seek escape in mundane activities.

Control. It's All About Control

The purpose of institutions is to maximize control. They are simply not in the business of saving your soul or enlightening you. They want to control your mind and your thoughts. You'll remember a great song by a great band, Pink Floyd I think they were called :)

We don't need no education. We don't need no thought control.

We really don't. We need to let the mind roam free in this monkey flesh and learn the depths of the Universe for we are the Universe. The Universe is realized within us. So in order to understand it, we must understand ourselves.

We have to take earnestly the belief that understanding the Universe is our duty and with control of thought there is division in the mind and we simply cannot understand if we are divided within.

Why else do you guys think that the education system is broken? What are your thoughts on the matter?
