Hey Steemians,

I would like your help.

Yesterday my brother got robbed while overseas on holiday.

He had his laptop stolen, then later found out his bank card was also compromised and he had lost 4000AUD.

He was in London staying at a seemingly reputable hostel.

His laptop was locked in a luggage bag, which was also locked in a luggage room that was only accessible by a safe code.

He had not used it for a few days.

Later it was found that other people had things missing too. It seemed suspicious and perhaps an internal job.

He went to 4 different police stations but they were of no help, except that they also found out his bank card was compromised.

He tried using his mobile but his sim card didn't let him call overseas.

The police couldn't even lend him a phone to call the bank.

They told him to try the library to help with calls but that had closed for the day.

Everything he experienced was going bad for him, even the samosas he bought at the convenience store from the "hot food" section was cold.

A few weeks ago his 'waterproof' phone had died because of water damage (he had it repaired a while back and they said it was still waterproof)

He lost all his photos of the trip and a lot of social media access but he tried to stay positive.

He thought, he could just get a new one and money is for using. So he tried but his bank card declined him - he tried for hours at the store and calling many times overseas to figure out the problem.

Lucky he had a friend there with him. Although they only knew for one day, he trusted my brother enough to lend him the money to buy the phone in the end.

But because of the declining bank card he had to call us up to help wire him details to buy tickets for travel. It took him 3 days to get the bank to resolve the problem and another 4 days to get all his social media accounts back (new device in a foreign country)

He's been having bad luck the whole trip.

With his laptop stolen we don't know how much is compromised - security, documents, passwords etc. There is still much aftermath to deal with.

As of this moment he is asleep in his hostel and I am praying he will stay safe and not be a target.

If you follow his Steemit posts from the beginning of his trip you will see there are other things that happened to him too.

He's a new Steemian and I introduced him to it just before his trip, but he hasn't learnt all the ropes yet.

He posts blogs about his travels and what he's learnt but isn't in a community or anything yet.

He's a very generous person - generous with time, money and help.

Everywhere he goes he tries to get to know people and make friends.

While I myself do not have the financial means, I want to support him this way.

To show him this wonderful community that I am a part of, to show him the love I have received.

The Steemit community that is the future :)

My friend @d00k13 - who I meet here on steemit - has encouraged me to use fundition for this.

I've asked for the help of @waybeyondpadthai who has directed me to the fundition discord for help and tips.

My steemit community @steemitmamas are supportive and will help vote when I post the link up.

I want to show him how much the Steemit world can do to support and encourage him.

No one deserves to be robbed on their holiday.

If you can spare any change or any messages of encouragement, any prayers of support please do!

Anything is better than nothing.

Show him the power of Steemit!

Note: I just realised that for the sake of security, in case of his account possibly being compromised I will have the funds sent to me and I will transfer directly to him instead of sending to his Steemit account. Thanks!
