Puppy Love!

Penelope and Saphira belong to my grandson and his wife. They are twins but certainly not identical with one being a lot daker than the other. They are a Shih Tzu x Maltese breed and extremely adorable and do not lack the attention they crave, as you will see by the images below.
Penelope and Saphira are proving to be great companions, with sweet and playfrul natures. Maltese Shih Tzus breeds are adaptable and energetic in an active home but much more reserved in a quieter home. They do need regular exercise especially as they can develop respiratory problems and heat and humidity can exacerbate these conditions.
Some bark quite a bit but these two sisters have calm personalities and only bark when alerted and therefore have the makings of good guard dogs. These dogs don’t shed hair profusely but they need to be brushed daily and their coats should be trimmed every six to eight weeks.
They are easily trained, intelligent and generally get on well with other dogs and for people who like to. Maltese Shih Tzus’s can develop separation anxiety f left alone for long periods so it is important to make them part of the family and spend time with them. It is recommended that owners let their dogs walk and not carry them everywhere, as some people are inclined to do.
