Part III

Matthew quickly returned to his teacher's workshop. There he saw his teacher, Bryan, hammering a piece of hot iron.

*Clang! * *Clang! * *Clang! *

"Teacher!" yelled Matthew.

His teacher stopped what he is doing and looked at Matthew.

"You're earlier than expected. Did you find the ore?" asked Bryan.

"There's no time for that! We have an emergency!" Matthew hastily said.

He then explained about the silver dragon and the black dragon's desire to attack the kingdom.

His teacher complexion turned grim after hearing the report of his student. They then quickly rode a carriage to the castle.

At the entrance of the castle the carriage was stopped by the guards. Bryan told the guards that he have something important to tell the king, conserning the dragons. Hearing what Bryan said, the guard relays the message to his superior. Soon, the report reached the king, and Bryan and Matthew are quickly summoned.

Facing his majesty the king, the two respectfully kneel. Signaling the two to stand up, the king ordered them to report the news about the dragons.

Bryan looked at Matthew, signaling Matthew to tell the the king what he had told him.

Matthew then nervously told the king of his encounter with the silver dragon and the black dragon's plan to attack the kingdom.

The king stood up his throne in shock, while the minister and nobles whispered to each other.

"Silence!" ordered the king.

The noise died down after the reprimand from the king.

"Young man, are your words true?" questioned the king.

"Yes your majesty. Everything I'd said is the truth. I have a token here from the silver dragon," answered Matthew.

He then took out the scale bundled in cloth.

A page walks toward Matthew and took the cloth. Checking the content, the page's face is riddled with shock, he then respectfully passed the scale to the king.

"Silver scale!" blurted the king in shock.

Looking at the beautiful silver-colored scale, the king's face became more solemn and dignified. With the scale as evidence, the king realized the true weight of the situation. A dragon would not give its scale to anyone so easily, this is especially true for greater dragons like the silver dragon.

The king then, observed this seemingly ordinary looking young man. Most people will not have the courage to face a dragon, even if it is injured! He cannot help but approved of such courage. Though he wants to reward Matthew, there's a more pressing issue at hand.

Summoning the knight commander, the king ordered him to prepare for war. He also ordered the minister to write letters to his allies, requesting for assistant—despite knowing that there's not enough time.

Lastly, he ordered all the nobles to prepare. After the nobles dismissed themselves, Bryan and Matthew wishes to leave as well but since they are not dismissed by the king, they can only stay obediently.

"Are you curious why I didn't dismissed you two?" The kind asked.

Looking at each other the teacher and student answered in unison, "Yes, your majesty!"

The king then explained the reason.
